How is Irish statutory redundancy calculated?

Two weeks' normal weekly pay for each year of continuous service, plus one additional bonus week. Weekly pay is capped at โ‚ฌ600 (โ‚ฌ31,200 a year). You need at least two years' continuous service, aged 16 or over.

Is the redundancy lump sum taxed?

The statutory redundancy lump sum is exempt from income tax, USC and PRSI. Any ex-gratia amount above the statutory figure may be taxable, subject to separate reliefs.

What if my employer pays more?

This is the statutory minimum. An employer or a collective agreement can pay more; enhanced amounts above the statutory lump sum are treated differently for tax.
